BBA Trade is proud to announce the successful completion of a high-stakes fine art logistics operation, involving four unique masterpieces by the world-renowned Iranian artist Reza Derakshani. The artworks were safely transported from the artist’s studio to Opera Gallery (Geneva) and its French branch, Art Et Antiquites (Paris).
Faced with a challenging “race against time” due to the national holiday (Bayram) schedule, BBA managed the entire process with the highest level of documentation, security, and technical expertise.
Operation Overview
To ensure the preservation of cultural value and full compliance with international export regulations, the operation was executed in the following phases:
- On-Site Inspection: Our expert team visited the artist’s studio to conduct a detailed inspection and take precise measurements for customized logistics planning.
- Museum-Grade Soft Packing (Tyvek 1442R): Each artwork was wrapped using Tyvek 1442R, the gold standard in fine art logistics. This pH-neutral, antistatic, and breathable material ensures maximum protection for delicate surfaces against dust and moisture.
- Custom-Made Crating: Based on our technical measurements, museum-grade wooden crates were manufactured from international-standard poplar plywood. These crates were specifically designed to withstand the rigors of international air freight.
- Studio Pre-Packing: Prior to the official museum inspection, the artworks were pre-packed at the studio to ensure safe domestic transit to the museum facilities.
- Official Museum Reports & Export Permits: BBA coordinated the mandatory Museum Reports required for the export of cultural assets. This involved uncrating the artworks for official inspection and securing all necessary permits.
- Final Securing & Lashing: For the final international journey, the artworks were secured within their custom crates using professional dunnage, lashing, and securing techniques to prevent any movement during flight.
- Air Cargo Logistics & Customs: The shipment was transported from Istanbul to Paris via a wide-body cargo aircraft. BBA managed all airport customs clearances and flight readiness procedures to ensure a seamless departure.
The Result
Despite the holiday rush and tight time constraints, the valuable works of Reza Derakshani arrived at their destination in Paris in perfect condition, without any delay or damage. This operation further solidifies BBA Trade’s position as a trusted leader in the delicate field of global fine art logistics.
